The major European oil giants Shell, BP and Total are investigating the possibilities of supplying oil and gas platforms in the North Sea with green electricity via connections from mainland. The electricity could possibly come from Norway, reports oil trade magazine Upstream based on insiders.

It would be about drilling platforms in the British part of the North Sea. Among other things, Shell’s gas platform Shearwater is mentioned. The companies involved would not be available for comment.
