Apple plans to release its new video streaming service in April. Netflix will not be part of this, writes CNBC on Wednesday based on insiders.
Apple would like to release its streaming service by the beginning of May at the latest. Users can view existing video services and channels via the service, but also have access to Apple’s own series and films.
CNBC writes that Netflix will not be part of the service. Netflix does not work with the comparable American video service from Amazon. It is still uncertain whether HBO participates, because the company is still in negotiations with Apple. These services may only remain available through their own app.
It is still unknown how Apple’s service is called. Last month director Tim Cook hinted at the service after the announcement of Apple’s quarterly figures.
We are going to offer our own content, we have a multi-year partnership with Oprah Winfrey, I can not say more about it at the moment.
