Amazon (AMZN) has opened for the first time a cashless supermarket outside America’s home market. It’s a store in London.
It is an Amazon Fresh store, a concept introduced last year by the online giant and very similar to the Amazon Go stores. Again, customers only have to scan an app before entering the store. When they are ready, the amount due will be automatically debited from the account.
The store is located in the Ealing District of London. Amazon plans to open even more stores in London and its surroundings. Matt Birch on behalf of Amazon Fresh Stores UK: ‘we see that British customers want to shop in an easy way and we think they appreciate getting around a message quickly in this way.’
