After more than two weeks, all forest fires in the US state of California, the most devastating in a hundred years, have been extinguished. This is reported by the fire brigade and the state government.
In particular, the fire at Paradise, in Northern California, proved deadly. 52,000 people had to leave their homes for the inferno. Many did not find their homes again, 13,500 homes were totally destroyed.
Not only in Northern California, but also around Los Angeles, many fires raged. All in all, the fire took 85 lives last November, a figure that is likely to increase significantly as 200 people remain missing.
No less than 62,000 hectares of nature went up in flames. President Donald Trump visited the disaster area last week. He blamed forest management for the situation. When asked whether climate change is a cause, he said that there are several factors.
