Britain’s new prime minister, Liz Truss, said Tuesday during a conversation with US president Joe Biden that she looks forward to working together to tackle the economic problems unleashed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“They agreed that the partnership between our countries, reinforced by our shared values, has been critical to defending and promoting freedom and democracy in the world,” a Downing Street spokeswoman said in a reading of the conversation.
