Foreign Minister Dominic Raab has called on the Taliban to stop violence against civilians. Raab was still hesitant about the possible imposition of sanctions: these will depend on how the Taliban will behave as a new ruler in Afghanistan in the coming period.
Raab will also talk to US Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken about how the countries will deal with the Taliban. Whether the new regime will be seen as a worthy partner is still unknown. The Pentagon states that it is also too early to answer the question whether there will be a terrorist threat from the Taliban in the future.
Shared my deep concerns about the future for Afghanistan with FM Qureshi. Agreed it is critical that the international community is united in telling the Taliban that the violence must end and human rights must be protected.
