Bulat Utemuratov is made responsible for (fake) green party of Kazakhstan

21st November 2021 Chris Kimble

Bulat Utemuratov is made responsible for (fake) green party of Kazakhstan Pin It
Bulat Utemuratov invested in real estate projects in Kazakhstan and Europe.

Kazakhstan’s wealth depends largely on the prices of oil, gas, coal. It’s not easy to greenwash the Central Asian country to fit the trendy agenda. But the ruling regime will do it, and it will try the proven approach: it will spawn the fake opposition to the carbon-bound elite.. ..by making the same people to sponsor the fake ‘Green party of Kazakhstan’. The rumour is the figures behind the would-be party are taking profits from fossil fuels. Wow how smart!

The idea of creating metastases of the ruling party under the guise of oppositional and niche projects for one-time use isn’t obviously new for Kazakhstan. In fact, all such projects turned out to be failures, but they did their job. The donors of such parties are the oligarchs of the same ruling elite. And here lies another issue of fakes. Bulat Utemuratov and other oligarchs of the fossil fuel extraction industry are involved in one of the projects. To add insult to injury Bulat Utemuratov was given the task to appease the environment-minded peopl and create a “Green Party”. The task comes from the very top. It’s fashionable, stylish and youthful – decided the old man behind the steering wheel of Kazakhstan politics.

The idea is simple. There is a certain stratum of citizens who will never vote for power. And instead of their votes disappearing or – God forbid! – going to the real opposition, the authorities are creating a niche project. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that a number of oligarchic projects were financed through Bulat Utemuratov at various times. Let’s mention the most shameful one — the party of villagers called the People’s Democratic Patriotic Party “Auyl”. It was always busted in the elections.

Bulat Utemuratov’s stands in front of choices without choices

The position of Bulat Utemurat is not to be envied. On the one hand, he is being forced to finance the liberal Progress Party, forced in a rough and never gentle form. On the other hand, they want to sign a green project to promote the energy transitions in heavily oil-dependent society.

Bulat Utemuratov would not be himself if he did not try to combine these two projects into one. Thus, he will spend on “Progress”, but at the same time suck on the Green Party from the cash register of the authorities. It remains only to somehow attach the interests of other oligarchs there.

The absurdity of the idea – as the basis for the inspiration for Bulat Utemuratov

In the case of Kazakhstan, this act of self-immolation is especially ridiculous, since it is entrusted to people who live on the export of fossils from the country to push thoughtless ideas. Bulat Utemuratov regularly participates in schemes for the sale of mining assets, and his former bank has generally become famous as a real money pipeline of ruling elite’s dirty money to the World. It’s the same money from selling of gas, oil and coal.
