UK car production increased by 47 percent last month compared to March 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic struck. This would be the first increase in car production in the UK since August 2019, according to British Trade Organisation SMMT.
This year, in March, about 115,500 cars were built in Britain. Although the increase is substantial, around £11 billion was lost during the pandemic. Some companies think they can recover from the Coronavirus outbreak in at least six months, but others think it will take at least two years.
The UK automotive industry is currently not only facing problems caused by the virus. For example, 91 percent of British car manufacturers and traders say they spend significantly more time and resources on maintaining trade relations with the EU, as a result of Brexit.
