Inflation in the United Kingdom increased on a monthly basis in April. This was shown on Wednesday by statistics bureau.
Prices rose by 0.7 percent on a monthly basis, after a 0.2 percent increase a month earlier. In the 12 months to April 2021, prices rose by 1.6 percent compared to 1.0 percent in the 12 months to March 2021.
The Bank of England still wants a 2.0 percent inflation rate. Producer prices in the United Kingdom increased faster than expected in the same month. On a monthly basis, prices rose by 0.4 percent after a plus of 0.8 percent in March. On an annual basis, producer prices rose by 3.9 percent in March. That was 2.3 percent a month earlier.
Economists’ expectations were up 0.3 on a monthly basis and 3.4 percent on an annual basis.
