The British “Stop Trump Coalition” has launched a new initiative. After tearing down the statue of seventeenth-century Edward Colston, the “Stop Trump Coalition” now wants to get rid of all “slavery monuments.” The organization has launched an initiative for this, called Topple the Racist. On the initiative’s website, users can see on a map where the monuments are “still standing”. Users can also submit a suggestion themselves, which will then appear on the map.
The website says, “Bring down statues and monuments in the UK that celebrate slavery and racism.” According to the website, the statues and monuments must be removed so that Britain can “finally” face the truth of its past. “It is up to the local communities to determine what they want in their area. We hope the map will support these much needed dialogues. Bringing down a statue can also mean going to a museum, for example”.
The website is an initiative of the “Stop Trump Coalition”. This group tried to ensure in 2017 that American President Donald Trump would not come to the United Kingdom. The reason for this was, among other things, that Trump would jeopardize the resolution of “anti-Semitism”, “inequality” and “peace”. Trump eventually came, but the organization nevertheless continued to exist.
The “Stop Trump Coalition” has some inconsistencies on their website. They believe, in the first place, that it is not their job “to determine what happens”. At the same time, the group is of the opinion that the monuments should “go away”. The group is also in favour of “a dialogue”, but they are also in favour of personally copying other people’s property. The most striking thing about this is that the group is not a group of offenders gathered together. Indeed, the organization also enjoys the support of many NGOs and British MPs.
