Prime Minister Boris Johnson urges the British on Sunday evening to remain vigilant in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus and to no longer insist on staying at home. British media report that at 8:00 pm (our time) he is addressing the public about measures that should very gradually end the lockdown. He would then drop the government’s current mandate to “stay at home” and call for “vigilance” to keep the virus under control and prevent people from dying.
The prime minister wants the economy to get going again and sets conditions to reopen businesses. He is also launching a new warning system, according to the BBC, with which the development of infections in England must be mapped quickly. This alarm system would help to take local measures against the spread of the virus. The system would revolve around five phases, each with its own color. The red fifth alarm phase is then the most dangerous. The country would now be in phase 4. The system is based on alarm phases that were introduced earlier to warn against terrorism.
