The UK economy continued to grow in the second quarter of this year. This was shown on Thursday by an initial estimate by the Office for National Statistics.
The UK economy grew 4.8 per cent on a quarterly basis.
However, compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, the UK’s gross domestic product decreased by 4.4 percent.
Industrial production in the United Kingdom fell in June and also more than anticipated. This was shown on Thursday by figures from the British official statistics office.
British industry produced 0.7 percent less on a monthly basis. Economists expected a limited decline of 0.1 percent. Production was 3.2 percent lower in June compared to February 2020, the last month before the coronavirus crisis.
