British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is said to plan to announce an end to all COVID-19 restrictions in the country on Monday. Johnson will reveal his plan to ‘live with COVID’ when Parliament returns from recess this week.
In particular, the plan would scrap rules requiring Brits who tested positive for the virus to keep themselves in self-isolation for five days, the outlet reported.
Travel and masking restrictions have been gradually repealed in the UK in recent months. In early February Johnson indicated that he intends to relax the rules of self-isolation. Conservatives in his party want Johnson to promise that no restrictions will be introduced in the future and that he will change public health laws to allow for “competitive” scientific advice in future pandemics.
