Four African stowaways who terrorised the crew of a cargo ship in the mouth of the Thames to get to England were arrested by the police. The police of the County of Essex reported that the troubled vessel was boarded shortly before midnight. Nobody was injured.
The cargo ship ‘Grande Tema’, owned by the Grimaldi Group, was on its way from Lagos in Nigeria to Tilbury in Great Britain. Four days ago the African stowaways were found on board.
The four were locked in a cabin, but succeeded in escaping yesterday. They threatened the crew with iron bars. The crew managed to get into safety and informed the police. It will be interesting case because according to the common sense and definition the four Africans committed piracy which is severely punished due the historical reasons.
