Amazon to hire ten thousand more workers in UK

Amazon to hire ten thousand more workers in UK Pin It

Amazon is going to hire 10,000 more people in the UK to cope with the hustle and bustle caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the lockdowns in many countries, people have started shopping more online and the web store seems to assume that this trend will continue after the coronavirus crisis.

Most of this involves new office jobs. Among other things, the company’s IT branch will be expanded. The UK Secretary of State Kwasi Kwengeng (business) calls Amazon’s expansion in his country”a sign of confidence in the UK economy”.

The American company is one of the big winners of the coronavirus crisis. Amazon recorded a record turnover of 44 billion euros in Europe in 2020. The company did not pay corporation tax due to a tax trick.

In 2020, Amazon employed half a million people worldwide, making the retail giant around 1.3 million employees. In the United States and Canada, a further 75,000 vacancies will be opened for delivery and logistics employees in the near future.

In the US, the need seems high: new employees there can get a bonus of up to $ 1000. In addition, the company recently announced that every employee who gets vaccinated will receive a $ 100 bonus.
