Blizzard has a mobile game around its Warcraft franchise under development, claims Kotaku on the basis of discussions with developers of the company. The game would look like Pokémon Go in terms of game type.
According to the sources of Kotaku there are many fans of mobile games within Blizzard and the reaction internally on, for example, Diablo Immortal was very different from that of a part of the audience at Blizzcon. The announcement of that mobile game got a lot of criticism because fans hoped for news about a PC game and the mobile game was based on a Chinese game.
Many Blizzard employees would also play Pokémon Go, including the person who used to be the head designer of World of Warcraft. As a result, an incubation team at the company would work on a Warcraft version of that augmented reality game. The game would be more extensive than the game of Niantic and include a single player mode.
Blizzard already admitted during Blizzcon that the company has several mobile games in development ‘for all series’. The developer then gave no examples or details about those games. The most recent announcement in Warcraft is that of Warcraft III: Reforged, a polished version of the 2002 game.
