US petrochemical sanctions against Iran postponed

US petrochemical sanctions against Iran postponed Pin It

The US government has postponed new, stricter sanctions against the petrochemical industry in Iran. The Wall Street Journal reports this based on insiders.

With the decision, the United States would like to prevent further escalation of the conflict with Iran. The US accused Iran of sabotaging American oil tankers. Trump then uttered war language and sent naval ships to Iran.

The announced sanctions against the major oil producer Iran would take effect in mid-May. It is not clear how long the delay will apply and whether the sanctions will continue.
