Factory orders in Germany fell again in August. This data was presented by the German Federal Statistical Office.
Orders fell 0.6 percent on a monthly basis. Economists generally expected that order intake would decrease by 0.3 percent. In July there was a downward revised decline in orders of 2.1 percent. Previously it was a decrease of 2.7 percent.
According to the statistics office, domestic order intake contracted by 2.6 percent on a monthly basis, while foreign orders fell by 0.9 percent. On the other hand, there was a substantial fall in foreign orders in July, especially from countries outside the euro zone. In August, non-euro area countries showed a slight order growth of 0.4 percent.
On an annual basis, German factory orders fell by 6.7 percent, following a decrease by a likewise revised 5 percent a month earlier.
