Business activity in the euro zone industry contracted again in August. Research firm Markit reported this on the basis of a definitive figure.
The purchasing managers’ index for the euro area industry recorded a score of 47 against 46.5 in July. The figure corresponds to a provisional estimate for the indicator, which indicates a growth above 50 and shrinkage below.
Markit stated that the index for industry in France was 51.1 and that for Germany was 43.5. The indicators for Italy and Spain were 51.6 and 48.8.
