China: Canada violates agreements Pin It

China is angry with Canada because of the question about Huawei’s arrested financial director Meng Wanzhou. The North American country would not have fulfilled bilateral agreements.

For example, according to China, Canada has failed to inform the Chinese consulate of the arrest. This is denied by Canada.

“If a Chinese citizen is arrested by the Canadian government, the Canadian government must immediately inform the Chinese embassy,” said a Chinese government spokesman. “This has left Canada behind.” Canada says in turn that it informed the Chinese envoys on the day of the arrest.

Meng was arrested in Canada for extradition to the United States, where Huawei is suspected of violating trade sanctions against Iran. Last weekend Beijing called separately the ambassadors of Canada and the US on the carpet. China is threatening to take action against Canada if Meng is not released soon.
