Business as usual: China imposed tariffs, US President retaliates immediately Pin It

US President Donald Trump is once again introducing tariff increases for imported goods from China. He does so out of anger at the import duties announced by China, which he believes are politically motivated.

In a series of tweets, Trump announces an increase of the current import rate of 25 percent that applies to $ 250 billion worth of goods shipped from China to the United States. That will be 30 percent on 1 October.

Trump had previously announced that it would introduce additional import duties on the remaining $ 300 billion worth of import goods from China on 1 September. That rate was initially set at 10 percent, but is now 15 percent.

According to the president, America has for years been lost in trade relations with other countries and that must change.

“As a president, I can no longer tolerate this!” Trump tweets.
