Market researcher Kantar transfers billions to investor Bain Capital. The British advertising company WPP sells a majority stake of 60 percent to Bain, which pays around $ 3.1 billion for it.
In the Netherlands, Kantar owns the former TNS NIPO. That company now operates under the Kantar Public and Kantar TNS brand names. WPP said earlier to look for a strategic partner or investor to take a majority stake in Kantar. Bain was selected from a number of parties who showed interest.
WPP wants part of the proceeds from the deal to be returned to its shareholders. Through a share buyback program or dividend, for example, they can expect a total of 1 billion British pounds, equivalent to 1.1 billion euros. Kantar was responsible for about 15 percent of the total revenues of WPP last year.
