Virgin Atlantic is involved in the struggle for the airline branch of Thomas Cook travel company. The company partly owned by British billionaire Richard Branson wants to take over Thomas Cook’s long-haul flights, reports Sky News on the basis of insider tips.
Thomas Cook flies from the United Kingdom to holiday resorts such as Cancun in Mexico and Las Vegas and Orlando in the United States. Virgin’s interest is focused on around 20 percent of the seat capacity of the aircraft branch put on display by Thomas Cook.
There are already several candidates for the entire Thomas Cook airline company or parts thereof. For example, Lufthansa recently announced that it would prepare a takeover bid. Thomas Cook wants to use the proceeds from the sale to reduce his debts and invest in the branch that offers vacations.
