Thomas Cook confirms talks with the Chinese Pin It

Thomas Cook is in conversation with the Chinese conglomerate Fosun International about the acquisition of parts of the travel organization. The British company confirmed that talks are in progress, after rumors of negotiations had already circulated.

Thomas Cook would like to improve his financial situation with the proceeds from the sale of those activities. The company says that there are several options on the table and that no decision has yet been taken. Fosun is currently the largest shareholder in Thomas Cook.

Analysts recently voiced their concerns about the finances of the company, which is suffering from a heavy debt burden. Thomas Cook announced earlier that he wants to sell his aviation activities. Investor Triton, owner of holiday provider Sunweb, would also be targeting parts of Thomas Cook.

Investors in Thomas Cook clearly appreciated the conversations with Fosun. The stock won nearly a fifth in market value on Monday in early trading on the London stock exchange.
