Tesco cuts down store managers jobs

22nd January 2019

Tesco cuts down store managers jobs Pin It

The Tesco supermarket chain is planning to scrap hundreds of jobs, including at the level of store managers. It would be a new job cut by the CEO Dave Lewis. Since 2014 he has already closed more than 10,000 jobs at Tesco. Lewis is known as a man of draconian measures. Years ago, he also performed in a similar manner at the British-Dutch food company Unilever. That earned him the nickname ‘Drastic Dave’ of which he is probably proud.

A spokesperson for Tesco did not want to confirm the message to the Evening Standard newspaper. Instead the spokesperson retreated to corporate gibberish:

We are always looking for ways to run our company more easily and efficiently. When we make changes to our company, colleagues are always the first to know.
