Pearson is cautious on profit forecast Pin It

The British publishing group Pearson has become more cautious about the profit forecast this year. The group is struggling with weaker performance in the United States than was taken into account.

Pearson previously assumed an adjusted operating profit this year from £ 590 million to £ 640 million. The company now assumes the revenues are at the bottom of that previously issued bandwidth.

The American educational branch accounts for around a quarter of Pearson’s revenues. But many schools abandon traditional teaching materials. The extra income from digital education tools is not yet sufficient to fully compensate for that difference.
