Between April 6, 2006 and April 5, 2008, more than 7000 pensions with a collective fund value of £0.5 billion were transferred from a UK based pension scheme into a QROPS. This means that investors are saving approx.£1 million a day in tax that they would have paid to HMRC.

QROPS allow UK pension savers more control over their retirement savings because their flexibility allows for investment in commodities and currencies, both of which are not available to a UK pension holder. The benefits to a person switching their pension into a QROPS can be significant and potentially allow UK pension holders to;

Open a QROPS in a financial jurisdiction that has a lower charging structure than the UK thus improving the pension holders wealth.

Avoid having to buy an annuity with their pension fund.

Negate any inheritance tax liability for family members when the pension holder dies.

Have their QROPS benefits paid in any major currency as this will avoid any negative fluctuations in exchange rate.

Gain access to some of their pension fund monies today.

cashpension.net have launched their pension loans service for UK pension holders and expats. apensionloan.com spokesman said: “Our pension loans are quite flexible and allow borrowers to take between 10% and 50% of the value of their pension fund in cash. The beauty about this scheme is that depending on certain restrictions you will not have to wait until you are 55+ before taking cash out of your pension”.

“Pension loans allow borrowers to get their cash today simply by facilitating a loan against your pension and the other thing which people need to be aware of is that there are no credit checks either. This obviously means that borrowers who have been previously turned down for a loan will of course not have to go through the same trials and tribulations whne they apply for a pension loan”.

Both personal pensions and ex company pensions are acceptable as long as they have a minimum of £35,000 in their pension fund. Unfortunately, we cannot process a pension loan on a current company pension scheme. For more details just visit the pension loan website at http://www.cashpension.net

QROPS stands for Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme.

On the 6th of April 2006, HMRC introduced new legislation on transferring frozen pension funds from the UK to overseas QROPS solutions. This change means that those who are or will be non-UK residents can transfer their UK pension funds without any tax deduction and be able to draw them without UK tax liability.

Background to QROPS

For a number of years, British expatriates and those moving overseas have been faced with difficulties when trying to sort out their UK pensions, as the pension is usually stuck back in the UK. One of the main issues has been the tax treatment of UK pensions and until recently it has been virtually impossible to move a UK pension to an overseas pension without being forced to pay basic rate tax on the transfer. In some cases HMRC would also levy a staggering 55% tax liability on the clients.

The new legislation on QROPS comes a welcome relief to thousands of expats around the world who may have been a member of a UK pension scheme, moved abroad and either lost or forgot about their UK pension. The beauty of QROPS is that they allow you to reclaim the pension money that would normally be stuck in the UK, transfer it to an offshore investment in your name and regain control and of course, access to your fund.

If you are interested in discussing QROPS in more detail, then please visit the apensionloan.com website for more information.

The service is completely free to clients and it allows UK pension holders to compare their existing pension arrangements against other pensions in the market to see if there is any value in transferring their pension.

No advice is given on the site as all leads are referred to an expert panel of providers including a firm of annuity specialists who will check to see if clients could extract more value from purchasing a different annuity to the one offered by their pension provider.
