If the British government decides to leave the EU without a deal, the United States is completely behind it. That is what the American national security adviser John Bolton told reporters.
The Brexit deadline expires on October 31. The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has made it clear that he wants to leave the EU anyway, if necessary without agreements about the separation conditions. That position causes great unrest within British politics. Many of Johnson’s fellow party members also do not want an EU deal without a deal.
Bolton said during a visit to London that the government of Donald Trump wants to be “helpful”. According to him, a brexit without a deal is no objection. “If the British government so decides, we will enthusiastically support it,” assured the national security adviser.
President Donald Trump’s top adviser also said that London and Washington will soon be able to close trade deals per sector. The pain points in the trade relationship can then be addressed later. Trump and the British Prime Minister also spoke each other by telephone on Monday, including about the Brexit and trade. The White House then announced that the president is looking forward to meeting Johnson personally in the near future.
