May opts for long delay in Brexit Pin It

Prime Minister Theresa May will ask the EU to postpone the Brexit until the end of June with the option to extend that postponement for two years. The departure of Great Britain from the EU is now scheduled for March 29.

May will ask that in a letter Tuesday or Wednesday to EU President Donald Tusk. Tusk has already indicated that he wants the heads of government of the EU countries to be open to a long delay in Brexit if the United Kingdom deems it necessary to reconsider its Brexit strategy and build consensus around it.

The BBC reported after a meeting of the British cabinet that May is going to ask for a delay. According to one source, there was “no deal” in the cabinet and even anger about May’s decision.
