Facebook knows what is best for you

Facebook has taken pages and profiles of a number of right-wing parties in the United Kingdom offline. From Thursday, these groups are no longer welcome on the social media, because they do not follow the rules of Facebook.

These are the Facebook pages of the British National Party (BNP), the English Defense League (EDL) and Britain First parties. In addition, twelve individual pages were taken offline.

According to Facebook, the messages that were distributed through the pages violated Facebook’s rules. A company spokesperson said in a statement to The Guardian that

“Facebook is not meant to spread hatred or to exclude certain groups or people.”

Other pages or individual users who distribute or support these type of messages are also not welcome on the platform. The ban also applies to Instagram.
