Construction company BAM has been given the green light to build a bridge in Glasgow. The bridge is intended to provide pedestrians and cyclists with a connection between Glasgow city center and the Sighthill residential area in the north of the Scottish city. The contract has a value of 18.5 million pounds, converted to 21.7 million euros.
1000 new homes are currently being built in Sighthill, making a new connection to the center of Glasgow important. The bridge allows residents of the neighbourhood to walk to Glasgow’s main square, George Square, within 15 minutes.
BAM will commence work in February and expects to be able to deliver the bridge in the summer of 2021. As part of the construction, an old bridge must be demolished at the same location.
