CMA’s investigation will delay, but not prevent Just Eat merger Pin It

The investigation of the British CMA market competition watchdog into the takeover of the British Just Eat by meal order site Takeaway.com will not jeopardize the merger. Citi analysts expect the acquisition to be delayed though.

The announcement by the CMA that a merger investigation will nevertheless be raised invokes questions, according to market researchers, about the possibilities for further consolidation in the food delivery market in the United Kingdom. However, the research is in line with the extra attention that the CMA gives to an investment by Amazon in Deliveroo.

The Takeaway share closed on Thursday at 85.75 euros.
