British government accidentally publishes list of addresses famous people Pin It

The British government has apologized for publishing a list of address details of more than a thousand people, including celebrities and politicians, who receive an award from the Queen on New Year’s Day. The BBC reports this on Sunday.

The address data file appeared on an official website of the government on Friday evening and remained online for about an hour. The list contained the address of singer Elton John and others.

According to a government spokesperson, the publication of the list was due to an error. “A version of the list of recipients of the New Year’s award was published by accident containing the addresses. The list was removed as quickly as possible,” the spokesperson told the BBC.

Research will be done into how the sensitive information could be published. The affected people were informed.
