324,000 cars were produced in the first five months, a decrease of 42 percent compared to 2019. Car production in factories in the UK fell by 95 percent in May. It was reported today by car industry organization SMMT. In total, 5,314 units rolled off the production lines, compared to 116,000 units in May last year. This puts total production in May at its lowest point since 1946, according to SMMT.

In the first five months of this year, a total of 324 thousand cars were produced (-42 percent y/y), compared to 557 thousand cars last year. Production capacity is severely hampered by the social distancing measures and low demand for cars due to the corona crisis, according to the auto industry organization.
