Begbies Traynor expands offshore practice
Insolvency specialist Begbies Traynor has announced that it is to expand its offshore operations by opening a new office in the Cayman Islands and partnering with an Isle of Man-based consultancy.
The Manchester based firm believe that it will allow them to provide insolvency and forensic accounting services for offshore clients of its joint venture with Mesirow Financial Consulting – the Chicago-based financial advisory firm with whom Begbies agreed a partnership in October of last year.
The Cayman Islands are commonly used as an offshore base for many investments held by US private equity firms.
Begbies has also signed a “teaming agreement” with Isle of Man-based practitioner Paul Shimmin of Shimmin Wilson & Co. He will head a new Douglas-based team that will complement existing Begbies Traynor offshore bases at Jersey and Guernsey. The firm said the tri-islands practice would specialize in risk mitigation, corporate restructuring, forensic accounting and corporate intelligence services.
The Cayman Islands office at Grand Cayman will be run by director Mike Saville.
